Merry Christmas from the Farris Family

This has been a great year for us. We are now in Cininnati and we love it here. We have great friends, Dave loves his job, he is doing great in school (he got 2 A's), we have a great place to live, and our family is happy and healthy. Jeremiah is 4 now and Baby Thomas is almost a month old. LIFE IS GOOD!

3 weeks old

This is just to show my kids mullet. His hair is so long in back.

Bright eyed on his boppy! He likes his belly and is pretty strong already.

Sweet sleeping boys!

His hair looks so curly after a bath.

Ready for a trip out.

Right as we begin to have a bit of a routine, we will screw it up by heading to Va for a week for Christmas. Dave is finally back in our room, Jeremiah is finally back in his room, and Thomas is in the pack and play rather than my bed. Last night he slept one stretch for 5 hours. It was great.
He has started to have a little baby acne. He is becoming more like Jeremiah. For the first 2 weeks, he was so still and a cuddler. He still cuddles, but he is much more active and raises his head a lot but then flops over. I remember with Jeremiah we were afraid when people held him because he was like that and if you weren't careful, he'd flop right out of your arms.

This and That

Thursday Dec. 13th
I dont know what it is about my kids and their belly buttons. The nurses say you cant bathe them until their belly buttons fall off, but that it should do so in 1-2 weeks. My kids are always the full 2 weeks. I guess I just want to bathe them so badly, that i have to be patient. Jeremiah's took the full 2 weeks and Thomas's took 15 days. It did however fall off last night in his sleep. I know that couldn't be too comfy in his onsie rolling around. But we finally got a real good bath. He didn't mind it at all until I got him out and he got cold.
Sunday Dec. 9th
Dave and Jeremiah have been camping in the living room so at least someone can have a good nights rest, free from the cries of a newborn. Here is Jeremiah all excited about camping on the first night.

My incision is feeling much better now. It is still tender to the touch and occasionally burns but is much better. I dont think staples will be as pretty of a scar as it was with stitches, but who cares. Who will ever see it anyway.

I read the funniest book while I was pregnant. I think anyone who is pregnant or has been pregnant should read it. It is a fast read and is hilarious and so true.
It is Jenny McCarthy's Belly Laughs, the naked truth about pregnancy and childbirth.

Dave has a really good picture of him and Jeremiah when he was 2 months old of their hands. It is so cute. I decided to do my own of Thomas and my hand. Here it is. But in mine Thomas is 2 weeks old.

Just a few more pictures:

on our own...

Here are a few more recent pics.

10 days old
Mommy and her boys!
Daddy and his boys!
Mom, Me, Thomas, Jeremiah, and Mackenzie
(Jeremiah has carpet burn on his nose in case you were wondering)

Mom ands Mackenzie left us today to go back to VA so we are officially on our own. The true test for me will be after new years since Dave is off a couple of days here and there for paternity leave over the next few weeks before Christmas. We had a wonderful time with all the family here. I have truly been blessed with such great family and in laws. I really appreciate all their help over the past almost 2 weeks.
It seems like Thomas changes everyday. His color is so much better now. He loves his Big brother. He always turns his head towards him when he talks. Jeremiah loves his little brother as well. He is doing really well.
So far, Thomas is eating about every 3 hours during the day and every 4 at night. He is spoiled already though, as it is hard for me to lay him down. I just want to hold him and cherish these little baby days, cause I know how fast they fly by.

6 days old

Here are a few more pictures.
5 days old
we just came home from the hospital ! (3 days old)
6 days old
When we left the hospital on Saturday Thomas had started looking a little jaundice so they did a level and his bilirubin was 15.6 so they wanted us to go to the doctor on Sunday morning for a recheck and we did and his level had come down to 14 so they were pleased.
His birth weight was 8lb 3 oz and when we left the hospital he was down to 7lb 9 oz. Normally breast fed babies can lose up to 10% of their birth weight and usually regain back to original weight by 2 weeks. On Sunday, he was already back up to 7lb 11 oz and by Tuesday he was up to 7lb 14.5 oz. That was exceptional, so his jaundice is looking better now as well, due to all the good poopy diapers.
They said today at the doctors office everything looked perfect(as if we didnt already know that!)
Thomas is eating about every 3 hours during the day, occasionally a little more often but then has good 4 hours in between at night. He is a little cuddle bug and loves to cuddle up on my chest. I don't mind that a bit!
Jeremiah is doing great being a big brother. He loves to hold him and hug and kiss him. He wants his picture with him all the time. I think he misses not being able to devote all our attention to him, but he is doing well considering.
Thomas is changing everyday. He was swollen at the hospital and now looks more like himself. His color is improving as well, but you can tell next to Jeremiah the difference in color.

Thank you Cathy for the beautiful cake. It was so cute!

(sorry I don't know how to rotate the pictures, I'm dumb)
