It is finished...

Family of four! Finally complete!
I love this kid!
All that hair!
Jeremiah, Buddy, Thomas and Dave
So he arrived to make us a family of 4 at 1:22 pm this afternoon. He had 9,9 apgar scores, which is great. He was a beautiful color of pink and had a nice strong cry.
Surgery for me was good until I had the bag of pitocin to get my uterus to contract down. That was super painful for me. I dont remember that from Jeremiah. I was and am still pretty itchy, but I am trying not to take any benadryl as long as I can stand it. I had an intramuscular injection of morphine but once the bag of Pit ran out, it was amazingly better. I am sore and Im sure i will be tomorrow, but I feel good. I feel swollen especially in my face.
Jeremiah is doing well. He wants to hold the baby in between everyone else. Me, then J, then Harriet, then J. He is so funny. So far so good.
I love that we have WIFI here in the hospital. I will update with new pics as we get cute ones. '
Thanks for all the calls, texts, and especially your prayers. We really appreciate them. Love you guys! We have a baby, YAY!!!

2 days to go and...

I shouldn't be surprised. I have been so healthy this whole pregnancy and Dave has been so sick since we have been here and i have managed to not get anything, until now. I started feeling a little sore throat and some sinus pressure after Thanksgiving and then Sunday my voice was barely with me and today I feel like crap. I think it is a sinus infection. I didn't sleep hardly at all because I had so much junk in my head and throat and I pee every two hours anyway. I called the doctor to make sure this wouldn't affect anything for Wednesday and the nurse said it shouldn't and rather than giving me an antibiotic, to just take mucinex as directed on the box. So I am, and I hope it helps. I want to have this baby Wednesday as scheduled. I just hate it that I feel so bad now.
Luckily we have our house in order. All my clothes are washed and packed and all the decorations are up. We have groceries and the house is clean for the most part so Im ready to have this baby. My pedicure dropped off my priority list today due to how bad I felt so you know i didn't feel good, cause I love a pedicure. Maybe tomorrow I can get it though.
Anyway, next time I add an entry I will have 2 kids. WOW. That is crazy. This is so exciting though. I cant wait.Yay, Thomas is almost here.

9 days

Today I had another MD visit. Not much excitement. I am barely a finger dilated, so she said I would most definatly get my turkey first and then my baby. That is fine, keeping everything on track for next Wednesday.
We set up our Christmas tree today and are almost done shopping so when Thomas comes we can just enjoy him and not stress about shopping and everything else.
Jeremiah has been watching the movie Elf since probably August. I asked him what he wanted to ask Santa for. He said he wanted to sit on his lap and tell him he doesnt smell like Santa, that he smells like Beef and Cheese and then pull his beard off. Which is exactly what Buddy does on the movie. I cracked up but Im not so sure it will be as funny in real life as it is hypothetically. Im sure other kids parents wouldnt appreciate my kids humor and appreciation for the movie Elf. I'll keep you posted when we go as to what happens.

11 days to go

I had a doctor visit on Thursday evening. I wasn't dilated at all so all that contracting is just getting us ready but making no progress. I am still occasionally contracting but not as often and not at all regularly. I actually feel pretty good.

Dave and I went shopping Friday and finished almost all of our Christmas shopping. We have a few more things that I plan to get the day after Thanksgiving and then I'll just have to wrap, which i love to do and can do anytime. We are putting up our tree next week. Dave is off work Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, so we should be able to have some good down time and relax before the storm hits that next week.

Dave is sick again. This time he has an infection from postnasal drip, probably from his sinus infection he had a few weeks ago. He is on yet another antibiotic and has a referral to the ENT, so hopefully we can get him well before I have a baby and need someone to take care of me. I am not sure I can take care of him, Jeremiah, myself and baby Thomas so soon after having major abdominal surgery. Please pray that Dave can get well soon and stay well for a while. Ohio isn't being very nice to him.

37 weeks Pregnant

2 weeks

I have 2 more weeks, if I make it. I have been contracting all night and all yesterday. I don't think I will be early but who knows. I wouldn't know what to do if I went into labor unless my water breaks. It isn't bad enough to wake me up though so I think I will know the difference when the real ones hit. I do what I remember from nursing school, drink water and rest. That is what I have been doing now for 2 days. I go to the MD tomorrow so we will see if they are doing anything or if it is still just Braxton Hicks.
Dave has such a busy weekend, he says it has to stay in at least through Monday. I agree. What if I have to have labor and deliver naturally. That is scary when you are all planned for a section.
Pray for me and this please. If Thomas is done cooking, bring him on. Just let me know whats going on and know that I'm in labor and be able to have an epidural no matter what.

Sunday, November 11, 2007

So as the day approaches, I have been gathering my questions for the doctor. One big one for me was contraception after the baby is born. I asked how soon I could get an IUD. I thought it would be pretty immediate, but he said the soonest I could get it would be at 6 weeks post-baby and only then if I have a normal pap smear and my period has resumed. So, if I am nursing, which i plan to do for a few months at least, I more than likely wont have a period. So, I cant get it for a while and I cant get my tubes tied because Im not 30 or I dont have 3 kids. This is crazy. I really hope I dont show up to my 6 weeks check-up pregnant. That would be crazy.

Jeremiah is doing some better. He seems to be getting excited more about 'our' baby. He has been wrapping his stuffed monkey up in his night-night and playing like it is a baby. I hope this is a good sign. He has been doing better about going to class at church. He still has his moments at Mops, but only usually cries for a brief time. He really likes sleeping in our floor next to us, which is usually ok, but I also want him to sleep in his bed. It just seems it wont be as hard if he gets used to it now, as opposed to once Thomas is here. I dont want him to feel like we are kicking him out at that point, but I want him to sleep too, and not be awakened every few hours for me to feed the baby and change diapers. I think he will be fine though. We just need to work on being gentle and watching how we act around the baby, as far as jumping an running and throwing toys, etc. We made Thomas a turtle at build-a-bear from Jeremiah. I have a feeling Jeremiah will try to reclaim it in December, but at the time, he was excited about making 'his' baby a new animal.

A little over two weeks to go. So far, Im not dilated or anything, but he is head down, on my bladder, non-stop. I go back to the doctor this Thursday. This is getting down to the wire, especially with Thanksgiving next week and then our little bundle of Joy will be here. YAY!!!

3 more weeks

So from today we have 3 more weeks. I am feeling good. My backache has eased off over the past few days. My sciatica has as well. I have figured out to not be up all night i have to cut off my caffeine by 2 pm, and then I usually can only get up once to go potty.
I am on weekly visits now. Last visit was Friday and I had gained 29 pounds, which is more than I wanted to gain, but I am right on track to be the same delivery weight I was with Jeremiah. Unfortunately I started out 10 pounds heavier with this baby than I did with Jeremiah, meaning I may gain 35 with Thomas, but I gained 45 with Jeremiah.
Some mornings I wake up and feel like my belly has grown over night. It is so strange.
I need to figure out when to get my pedicure, since last time the day before wasn't a good idea. I was scheduled with a c-section with Jeremiah on a Friday and had my manicure and pedicure scheduled for the Thursday before but when I got up my water broke and I never got them. So, now i need to figure out how far in advance I need to make my appointment so that I dont go into labor without my feet pretty.
More to come soon...
